State of Florida Mandated Courses: Medical Errors 2CE / Safe Prescribing 2CE
OBJECTIVES: After completing this seminar, participants will be able to:
1. Assess for factors contributing to common performance and diagnostic errors.
2. Analyze dentistry errors & implement strategies to improve patient safety.
3. Implement at least one change in their practice that can reduce the risk of errors
4. Consider if alternative medications can be effective in managing a patient’s pain.
5. Check a prescription data base in my state before prescribing opioids.
6. Limit the number & dosage when opioids are indicated for treating acute pain.
7. Prescribe opioids in compliance with Florida statute.
Dr. Johanny Caceres is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon currently practicing in Miami. He is a fellow of the International Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Currently, he is also serving as professor of surgery and the chief of Craniofacial Trauma at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. He is an international speaker and has many scientific publications in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery books and journals.
