We open our Fall 2022 season with a prism of dynamic composers, showcasing their personalities with dynamic compositions. From the torment of Beethoven’s brooding Egmont Overture to the buoyancy of 20th century American composer Russel Peck, not a mood will be missed. The program features a new arrangement (by Maestro Wiley) of intimate piano pieces by 19th century Ukrainian composer Mykola Lysenko, and a commissioned work by Erin Graham. Cello soloist Andrew Rammon, of Silver Spring, MD, will perform the firey first movement of Shostakovich’s Concerto No. 1. Our program ends with the soulful Russian Easter Overture, a work that reflects on the history of western music with the incorporation of Gregorian chant.
